IHW awards 34 corporate organizations for impacting several lives through CSR activities across the country

Under CSR Health Impact Awards, a flagship initiative of the Integrated Health and Wellbeing (IHW) council, various institutions and individuals have been honored for providing support to overcome the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. One such institute is Vedanta Group that was bestowed with 4 awards for its exemplary work and initiatives undertaken to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

IHW recognized initiatives taken by the Vedanta Group under its ‘Vedanta Cares’ program at CSR Health Impact Awards. The Vedanta Group has extensively supported the migrant workers, daily wage earners and stray animals affected by the Pandemic.

The winners were chosen after evaluating all the nominees through a stringent process, looked over by an eminent jury panel. The group received gold in various categories, which include (i) Vendanta Group – COVID relief Efforts, (ii) Hindustan Zinc Limited – Response to Covid-19, (iii) Vedanta Alumina, Lanjigarh – COVID Indigenous Response Project, (iv) Nand Ghar – Health CSR Project Category as a Large Corporate.

A leading think tank, IHW works towards creating awareness and advocates for societal well-being with a focus on national health. The council encourages corporates to make investments in the areas of health and contributory areas under their CSR obligations.

A total of 34 corporate organizations and charitable trusts were recognized under COVID categories of award for their health-focused social upliftment work. Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh SBI Insurance, Zydus Foundation, Reliance Power, Tech Mahindra Foundation, Oxfam India and ReNew Power were honored for helping people combat challenges brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.

On the other hand, Sanofi, ICICI Lombard, Janssen, J&J India, NTPC Ltd, and Apollo Total Health were recognized for continued efforts to uplift the community residing in rural areas. Talking about the development, Mr Kamal Narayan, CEO of Integrated Health and Wellbeing (IHW) Council said, “The pandemic has shown health is everyone’s business. We may not be able to award the millions who have been working tirelessly to make life easy for others. By honoring the ones chosen for awards, we can express my deepest appreciation and gratitude towards these heroes and warriors for what they are doing.”

One of the most trusted and honored CSR Health Awards in India, the 4th edition of CSR Health Impact Awards continues the legacy of awarding those who are impacting several lives across the country. This year, the special COVID-19 category of awards honored those institutions and individuals that helped the less-privileged people Some of the awards were handed for CSR COVID Relief Project, CSR COVID Protection Project; COVID Healthcare Providers; COVID Essential Heroes; COVID Public Health Warriors; CSR COVID Indigenous Response Project; COVID Social Impact Businesses; and COVID Social Champions categories.

Health CSR Project; Environment Impact Initiative; WASH Initiative; CSR Food Initiative; Swachh Bharat Impact; CSR Health Campaign; and Rural Health Initiatives were covered under the mainstream CSR categories awards.

The winners of special Jury Awards, Project StepOne and American India Foundation, were nominated by a jury comprising of seasoned administrators. Former Union Health Secretary, Government of India, Special Advisor to UNAIDS; legal stalwart Justice Swatanter Kumar, Former Judge Supreme Court of India and Former Chairperson, National Green Tribunal; eminent public health expert Prof K. Srinath Reddy, President, Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), etc., were some of the members that were part of the jury.

Talking about the process of selecting the winners, Hon’ble Justice Swatanter Kumar, Former Supreme Court Judge and Former Chairperson, National Green Tribunal (NGT), also a member of the jury, said, “I compliment the entire team of IHW Council for the good work – today, we are facing COVID-19 only because we didn’t care enough for our natural resources that also affects the health of the lowest strata of the society. I congratulate the awardees for their distinguished service to the society.”
