Give more, save more: GiveIndia Fundraising Challenge 2022 set to kick off on 1st February

GiveIndia

The long awaited moment for most Indian non-profits is here. Every February, GiveIndia holds its Fundraising Challenge where hundreds of NGOs compete for rewards and recognition. The event brings together both donors and donees in the last two months of the preceding financial year as both sides aim to utilize the tax breaks made available to them.

This year will see the 8th edition of the GiveIndia Fundraising Challenge and with as many as Rs. 4 crores to be given away to participating non-profits. The Bangalore-based organization has successfully held the event for the last seven years, wherein more than Rs. 10 crores have been distributed amongst Indian NGOs to support their activities.

GiveIndia Fundraising Challenge is one of the few events where most NGOs can raise anywhere between 30-80 per cent of their yearly funds in just one go. The premise of the challenge is founded on the tax savings that are available to the donors during the last two months of the financial year. Tax deductible 80(G) and 501(c)(3) receipts are issued for domestic and international donations and make a favourable impression on donors and well-wishers alike.

The event also holds another positive for participating NGOs. GiveIndia Fundraising Challenge provides a platform for non-profits to hone their crowdfunding skills, which is a necessity in today’s digital era where fundraising has become an online activity.

Last year’s edition was a runaway success and yielding over Rs. 17 crores for causes including healthcare, COVID relief, children and education. More than 450 organizations and 18,585 donors participated in 2021, and if last year’s numbers are anything to go by, this year’s edition is expected to draw in a larger crowd.

Commenting on the event, Sumit Tayal, COO, GiveIndia, said, “GiveIndia Fundraising Challenge 2022 is an open invitation for all nonprofits and their supporters to raise money for their chosen philanthropic causes. As India’s most trusted giving platform – and in keeping with our founding mantra of promoting the giving culture, we encourage all NGOs to join the challenge. We are geared up to give every support required for their fundraising success.”

The application for the event has been simplified to aid interested parties. All they have to do is fill up a simple registration form. In fact, each and every one of the 2,500 NGOs registered with GiveIndia who have an active fundraising page will be automatically entered in the challenge.
