Students of Ryan International School clean the Versova Beach with Advocate Afroz Shah

21st September, when the future generation of India took the responsibility of making the Versova Beach clean on their shoulders — the idea Ryan Group has always believed in. Students of Ryan International School were at the forefront of the cleaning drive that took place on the eve of International Coastal Cleanup Day. Afroz Shah, who is an Earth champion and advocate, also participated in the program and seemed very impressed by the splendid job done by the students.

The initiative taken by students inspired numerous members of the society to participate in the cleanliness drive. Prior to the clean-up, Afroz Shah visited the school along with Dr. Geoff Brighty, Head science and policy sustainability for plastic oceans UK, Ms. Nickson, an Environment Entrepreneur, and Prof. Jonathan Pierce Water scientist to sensitize children about the need and importance of keeping our environment clean. The discussion also included ways to save the ecosystem as a whole.

“The Ryan Group is pleased to associate and partner with Advocate Afroz Shah, UN Champion of the Earth 2016, in this movement to clean beaches and rivers and contribute to being a voice for the voiceless. This endeavor resonates with the vision of our Chairman, Dr. A.F. Pinto on maintaining a clean sustainable environment for generations to come,” said Dr. Snehal Pinto, Director of Ryan International Group of Institutions.

Afroz Shah seemed highly motivated with the inspirational mindset of Ryan students. The way Ryan has been educating more than 270,000 students about the need and importance of nature protection impressed him a lot. He said that the task of cleaning the beach needs a lot of efforts, while sharing the future idea of Dana Pani Beach as well as Mithi River.

Young Ryanite Aditya Menon said that we Ryanites believe in the philosophy of ‘Each One, Plant One’ – the vision of Ryan International Group’s chairman. The student further stated, “We are lucky to meet such inspiring mentors like Afroz Sir and we promise to continue our efforts on cleaning our mother earth.”

With a vision to offer quality education to students of all financial groups across the country, Ryan Group was started in 1976 by educationists Dr. A. F. Pinto and Mrs. Grace Pinto. The Ryan International school owner has led the Group excellently and has set up over 137 schools in the country with the philosophy of ‘Excellence in Education and All-Round Development’.
