Can you recall the moment when you passed the street and the sudden aroma of coffee stirred the calm lake of your senses? Could you pass through that street without actually praising that aroma or thanking the Mother Earth for making such a wonderful art? Well, somebody is paying tribute to the Earth by taking care of environment’s needs. Starbucks doesn’t need any introduction, as it not only looks after your taste buds but the coffee giant is also aware of its responsibilities towards the environment and people whose contribution matter to it.
The quality of the coffee fields, from where the finest quality beans are imported at Starbucks, is maintained in order to sustain the farms of those hardworking farmers who are paid an up-to-the-mark amount for their labour. The Starbucks has partnered with international Non-Profit Organisations which share its sustainability concerns.
Starbucks focuses on buying, selling and using only environment-friendly products and that is why it keeps encouraging its partners and employees to instill the environmental responsibility as a corporate value in their work operations. The coffee leader has taken certain leadership steps for promoting environmental and social stewardship in coffee-origin countries.
Starbucks’ each store in Greece adopted a child of SOS Children Villages, comprising 56 children in total, whose age varies between 3 years and 18 years. The partners of each Starbucks store goes on an outing with their adopted SOS child and plan-execute their birthday parties. This way, the partners at each Starbucks store get a chance to personally know a child, teach him/her something, learn something from him/her and develop a bond of affection with them as the tome passes.
The school supplies, athletic gear and clothes of each child are those needs which are catered via specific funds and donations. Apart from looking after their educational needs, Starbucks has 2 young ones from the Village as its active Starbucks partner.
It’s just the beginning for Starbucks, as it strives to do everything in its will and it will do that until it accomplishes its mission with the help of its vision, which are ‘to inspire and nurture the human spirits- one person, one cup and one neighborhood at a time’.
