Samsung, a multinational conglomerate known for its diverse range of electronics, including smartphones, televisions, and home appliances has been participating in CSR activities very actively. As a brand, Samsung’s name is renowned for its top-notch quality and service. Through its CSR program ‘Samsung Innovation Campus,’ Samsung India recently concluded its artificial intelligence (AI) and Big Data courses for Hyderabad’s first batch of 190 students. The program aims to upskill less-privileged youth in future tech domains, empowering them and contributing to India’s digital growth. With a commitment to Powering Digital India, Samsung continues to create strong partnerships and work alongside the government to provide opportunities for the country’s young generation.
The students, mentored and trained at the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) in Hyderabad, were felicitated at a ceremony to recognize their course completion. The program, executed through the nationwide network of approved training and education partners by the Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), showcased its effectiveness in developing young minds into competent tech professionals.
In September 2022, Samsung India and ESSCI (Electronic Sector Skill Council of India) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
As a result of this collaboration, courses under the Samsung Innovation Campus program have been launched at various institutions across India. These include the University of Lucknow, National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) in New Delhi and Hyderabad, Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University in Bhilai, SRR College of Arts & Sciences in Karimnagar, Central Tool Room & Training Center in Bhubaneswar, Sri Jayachamarajendra Polytechnic College in Bengaluru, and Dr Lankapalli Bullayya College in Visakhapatnam.
Among the first batch, 65 students were trained in AI, while 125 focused on big data.
“Through this initiative, we want to empower the youth and create opportunities for them in future tech domains, further boosting India’s growth story and strengthening our commitment to Powering Digital India,” said Mr. Hyun Kim, Corporate Vice President, Samsung Southwest Asia.
The Samsung Innovation Campus program, launched across eight campuses in India, aims to upskill 3,000 less-privileged youth in future tech domains such as AI, IoT, big data, coding and programming. By providing relevant job placements, the program enhances the employability of these young individuals.
Participants in the program receive instructor-led classroom training from approved training and education partners of ESSCI nationwide. The curriculum focuses on cutting-edge technologies essential for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Students undergo meticulous training in their chosen areas of the tech domain. Soft skills training is also provided to enhance their employability and prepare them for the job market.
The AI course entails 270 hours of theory training and 80 hours of project work, allowing students to gain hands-on experience applying AI techniques. Similarly, students pursuing IoT or Big Data courses undergo 160 hours of training and 80 hours of project work, immersing themselves in these emerging fields. The coding and programming course participants benefit from 80 hours of training and a Hackathon, encouraging creativity and innovation.
