As Indian companies become more receptive towards their social responsibility, they are actively initiating in making a difference by contributing their own bit.

Axis Bank recently hosted a job fair for Delhi police retired workforce, and their children. As a part of its social responsibility, the bank is serving as a portal for employment opportunities.

Axis bank’s initiative, called “Jobex” is a robust step to contribute towards economic development, improving the quality of life of retired servicemen, and their children.  This would foster the notion of “good company, good people, and good environment.”

The event was inaugurated by Suchana Patnaik, President-Police Families Welfare Society (PFWS), and Delhi. More than 8500 candidates filled in the registration form, and there were 100 corporates interviewing them for jobs. The forms were digitally accessed by the hiring companies, where they identified, and selected candidates for further interview process. The whole event was organized at the police training ground, Kingsway camp, North Delhi.

From the vast pool of applicants, over 6500 were selected for further processing, and the final lot of the candidates were given on spot job offers. The event was co-sponsored by the well-known insurance company — Max Life Insurance.

Talking about the event, Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Delhi Police, remarked “This is a great initiative by Axis Bank in collaboration with Delhi Police and Police Families Welfare Society (PFWS) to provide such kind of employment platform. I am glad to see how this has helped the Delhi Police community by creating jobs for wards of serving and retired Delhi Police Personnel and also ex-policemen. The facet of conducting interviews and offering positions within a few hours is an interesting concept. I would like to wish the selected candidates all the best for their future.”

Nuti Chakravathy, the Regional Branch Banking Head, North, Axis Bank, at the event said “We are happy to be of service to uniformed forces and Government institutions. We will continue to offer special and customized banking services, catering to their needs. The bank has been at the forefront to offer products and services that are exclusive to defense and police forces under ‘Power Salute’. The job fair is to further extend our gratitude to the forces by providing them with a platform for employment opportunities. We believe that a forum of this stature will symbiotically benefit interviewees to find ideal jobs and the corporates to find talent with the right skill-sets.”

Jobex fair has not just limited itself to Delhi. The fair was also held in Mumbai, in June 2018, attended by 1000 participants, and 20 corporates.
