Top 5 roadblocks in India’s development

India dev

With India proudly proclaiming to be the laying foundation of CSR, the term is still distant to majority of its citizens. Comprising three key duties known as the “triple bottom line”, CSR invokes economic, social and environmental responsibility at both the organization and individual’s level.

Being an active citizen, your efforts can majorly help India climb up the development ladder. Here’s how abolishing the  5 major roadblocks can help our nation drive towards progress:

  1. Open Defecation

Open defecation not only causes health hazards but also deprives the nation of development. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Clean India” mission aims at making the country free of the practices like open defecation by 2022.

  1. Gender Disparities

Bridging the gender differences, and moving towards an egalitarian society will ultimately lead a nation to progress. Gender inequality is deterrent to the development of the country. The issue needs to be addressed personally as well as requires government intervention whenever deemed necessary.

  1. Environment de-sensitization

The increasing levels of pollution, and the citizen’s apathetic attitude towards environment requires measures to be taken at both macro and micro levels. People should pledge for a greener approach, and be environmentally responsible to help lessen the excessive pressure on the environment.

  1. Littering

Littering is a major concerning issue in India. The discarded waste is not the only sole problem, but also the indifference amongst citizens of the country. With only a few hundred of concerned people collecting the waste generated by millions of people, waste management is both an unplanned and abortive business in India.

  1. Overpopulation

Overpopulation is a bane which leads to insufficiency and underdevelopment of any country. One per cent growth rate means an addition of 1 crore people every year, but figuratively 2 crore people are being added every year. Family planning, recreational activities, late marriages, employment for women are some of the effective measures to help curb population growth.

With both individuals, and government keenly working towards eliminating these roadblocks, our country will obtain the global position it truly deserves. Being responsible citizens, we need to draw learnings from our past, move towards a prospering future.
