Akshaya Patra, one of the leading non-profit organizations in India received a meal delivery vehicle from BEML. Headquartered in Bengaluru, the organization aims that ‘No child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger.’ On an average, Akshaya Patra provides mid day meals to around 1.4 million children every day. In less than 15 years, it has gained commendable success in eliminating hunger and poverty and emerged as one of the most effective NGOs. It strives to ensure the welfare of underprivileged sections of society and eliminate and the fight issues like hunger, poverty and malnutrition in India.
As a part of its CSR initiative, BEML is looking forward to support the noble cause of Akshaya Patra Foundation and implement its Mid-Day Meal Programme in government and government aided schools across 10 states in India. The vehicle was inaugurated at the premises of ISKCON temple on West of Chord Road in the esteemed presence of Sri Madhu Pandit Dasa, Chairman, The Akshaya Patra Foundation, Sri P. Dwarakanath, Chairman & Managing Director, BEML, Sri Deepak Kumar Hota, Director- HR, BEML and many other executives. The meal delivery vehicle is custom-designed and embedded with state-of-the-art features. It is insulated to maintain optimal temperature, is dust-free and helps to retain the freshness of the meals. It will be put to use at Akshaya Patra’s Bengaluru unit. The vehicle will help the organization to expand its reach and transport hot and nutritious meals to around 4,000 children in 40 schools every day.
