Chhattisgarh Ultramodern Sports Academies to be set up from CSR funds

Chhattisgarh Sports Development Authority’s governing body decides to build sports academies with ultramodern amenities and advanced training facilities with support and cooperation of corporate houses. The sports academies would run from the CSR funds.

To connect youth with sports activities new sports initiatives would also take place and concerned academies will be monitored through Chhattisgarh Sports Development Authority.

Authority constitution aims for better coordination between the different sports departments, policy making, decisions regarding different event levels, and managing financial aid under Government of India schemes.

Executive committee of the authority chaired by Chief Secretary will select the stadiums. Sports like hockey, archery, basketball, kabaddi, kho-kho, swimming, martial arts, cricket and football would be included in the sports academies. Traditional games of Chhattisgarh like gendi, bhaunra, fugdi will also be promoted.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has been authorized to nominate 2 MP’s, 5 MLAs and 2 outstanding sportspersons for Chhattisgarh Sports Authority. To provide financial assistance to sportspersons Mukhyamantri Khiladi Protsahan Yojana will also be launched.

District level committee will be formed under the chairmanship of Minister-in-charge and clubs to be constituted at Gram Panchayat level under the guidance of sub-divisional officer. With an aim to promote social activities like cleanliness, tree planting programs, youth will be connected to these Clubs.

Sports and Youth Welfare department will implement The Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club scheme in 11,664 gram panchayats of 146 development blocks of the state. An amount of ten thousand per month will be allocated for organizing their activities. At Gram Panchayat level this scheme will be formed. For youth Leadership and skill development activities will be conducted through this club.
