A leading global water technology firm, Xylem has worked alongside its partners to donate and deliver more than 300,000 pieces of PPE to the frontline workers. The company donated the PPE to healthcare facilities and water utility operators working in the local communities. Xylem had begun re-purposing internal manufacturing capacity in March 2020 to develop face shields for essential workers on the frontline.

After working with several distribution partners, Xylem was successfully able to deliver 150,000 shields across the US, Europe and Latin America throughout the year.

Talking about the initiative, Joe Vesey, the Chief Marketing Officer of Xylem said, “Water is always essential to the community health and resilience. Its importance has only grown during the current pandemic. This PPE initiative is one part of our efforts to support the health and safety of essential water operators, as they aim to serve their communities.”

“A safe working environment is a fundamental part of providing safe water and sanitation to our communities,” he added.

In the month of July, Xylem partnered with RCAP and 120Water to help close the PPE access gap. The company procured 150,000 N95 masks, out of which 105,000 units were distributed to the utilities across 46 states. Apart from this, RCAP and 120Water received 10,000 of the face shields manufactured by Xylem, while the remaining 45,000 masks were donated to NYWARN (the New York Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network).

The suppliers and distributors of Xylem have played a vital role to bring the benefit to their local communities and make the project successful in the long run.
