Toshiba Group has contributed Rs 1.95 crore approximately to strengthen the fight against the COVID-19 virus. It is running its business with India from almost 6 decades. Toshiba runs various operations and has set up export base considering ‘Make-in-India’ and ‘Export-from-India’ programs.
“A total of approximately Rs 1.95 crore has been donated…during this period, the contributions include voluntary salary contribution by Toshiba employees as well as contribution from Toshiba group companies,” according to a statement.
Toshiba Group encompasses various entities like Toshiba India Pvt Ltd (TIPL), Toshiba JSW Power Systems (TJPS), Toshiba Transmission and Distribution India (TTDI) and a few more. Toshiba Group India has also contributed towards disaster relief funds of state governments to boost the morale of frontline workers.
TIPL has contributed Rs 18 lakh to Akshay Patra Foundation for the mid-day meal for students and Rs 6,69,619 towards the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. Additionally, TIPL’s employees will also contribute through voluntary salary deduction from their salaries.
Following the same, TJPS has donated a total amount of Rs 25 lakh. It was divided among chief minister’s funds of 5 states where TJPS projects are going on. These five states are Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Odisha.
Toshiba Software India (TSIP) has donated a total amount of Rs 1,13,00,254. Out of this amount, Rs 33 lakh was infused to Akshaya Patra Foundation to boost of ‘Mid-day Meal scheme for children in Karnataka. Rs 10 lakh to Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB) to offer management education and promote associated areas of knowledge. The remaining amount of Rs 70,00,254 was contributed towards Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. Additionally, Toshiba Transmission & Distribution India (TTDI) contributed Rs 25 lakhs to fight against the global pandemic.
