Through thick & thin: Indian firms upholding CSR activities amidst pandemic

Indian business companies are investing their efforts into fulfilling their CSR activities in the wake of the pandemic. Some have chosen to help the government’s PM-CARES fund while others have turned to autonomous strategies to do their bit.

 

Indian firms have generously supported the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM-CARES) Fund. Both government and private entities have donated whole-heartedly to the PM-CARES fund. National Thermal Power Corporation of India (NTPC) has also donated Rs 257.5 crore. The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has given Rs 30 crore. The Vedanta Group has contributed Rs 101 crore to the fund. The Reliance Group has submitted Rs 500 crore, and Bharti Enterprises and its organizations Bharti Airtel, Bharti Infratel and others have swore over Rs 100 crores. These are only a couple among numerous different firms that have held hands with the country’s battle against the coronavirus.

 

Aside from corporate firms, the employees also have vowed to be a part of the worldwide battle against the pandemic. NTPC representatives have contributed their one-day compensation, making the total amount up to Rs.7.5 crore. SAIL representatives have done likewise, raising Rs 9 crore for the gift. The representatives of Bharti are additionally making individual deliberate commitments towards this reason through a stage set up by the organization. Bharti companies will collect the sum from their employees and contribute to the fund to aid COVID-19 initiatives.

 

Organizations have also made individual commitments for the cause. In addition to contributing to the PM-CARES Fund, firms have been practicing similar CSR activities to ensure the interests of the firm as well as their employees.

 

Firms are working relentlessly to stay at par with the momentum of the country’s economy in spite of the via solar and water energy, SAIL has brought down production and kept basic plants in running condition with least labor to protect their employees as well as the firms.
