Ever since Covid-19 outbreak started gaining ground in India, India Gate Basmati Rice has been incessantly working towards addressing the issue of hunger among the migrants and other unfortunate people who were forced to face the direst of circumstances.

The parent firm of one of the largest basmati rice brands in India, KRBL Ltd. recently launched its latest welfare initiative, ‘Umeed Hain Hum’. Aimed at providing basic meals to those in need across the country, the initiative was started by KRBL’s flagship brand India Gate Basmati Rice, in association with New York-based celebrity chef Vikas Khanna.

The popular basmati rice brand has so far benefitted people in more than 20 cities in the country and has fed more than 2.5 million meals in the last three months. One of the largest and most impactful food donations in India, the welfare activity continues in the form of the latest initiative, ‘Umeed Hain Hum’.

As a part of the latest food distribution drive, the brand reached out to the people in need in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh.

As an extension and to reach out to more people in need, KRBL Ltd- India Gate organized a food distribution drive in Vrindavan to support many women living in ashrams and old age homes.

Talking about the initiative, the KRBL CMD Anil Mittal pointed out that several old age homes are dependent on donations offered by the pilgrims visiting Vrindavan. This source of income has ceased to exist due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the nationwide lockdown which followed.

According to Mittal, the primary aim behind this initiative is to help this community which has gone unnoticed by the society and the lawmakers alike, through providing basic provision and food items. He also said that amid the global economic shutdown during the pandemic, corporates now have an even more critical role to play in taking care of the local community.
