CCL Declares 2020 as Sarvangin Vikas Varsh, to focus on welfare initiatives

On Wednesday, the Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) declared 2020 as the Sarvangin Vikas Varsh (all-around development year) for the company and people associated with it. While meeting the press near at the Darbhanga House in Ranchi on 1st January 2020, the chairman and the managing director of CCL, Gopal Singh made this announcement.

Singh state, “This year will be Sarvangin Vikas Varsh for the extended CCL family and project-affected persons. During the year, the company will pay attention to six aspects — education, health, sports, drinking water, employment and the environment.”

He also added, “Last year, our company was honoured with several national awards for its contribution in the field of sports and CSR (corporate social responsibility) besides carrying out safe-mining activities. The company also produced 68.7 million tonnes of coal, which is 8 per cent higher than the year-ago period, despite the fact that coal reserves of several highly productive mines have been exhausted.”

The company is known for its contribution towards water conversation as the company’s abandoned open cast mines which forms about 88 in numbers contains around 25 billion gallons of water. Singh said “We supply water to 74 villages from our abandoned open-cast mines. The entire Giridih area depends on our water.”

Moreover, he claimed that the company had educated over 50,000 children in schools running in the command area of the company. The company also helps the students to prepare for competitive exams such as IIT free of cost.
