‘Yes to Life’ NGO educates corporates and millennials to unite for the fight against cancer

In a bid to unite the corporates and millennials of Gurugram for the fight against cancer on the World Cancer Day, DLF Cyberhub took an initiative in association with NGO ‘Yes 2 Life’ that aimed at raising awareness and educating them about the detection and treatment of the fatal disease.

The cancer is known as one of humanity’s most demanding and financial concerns. In order to showcase the signs and symptoms of cancer through placards, the event was started with the formation of human chain through 80-100 volunteers.

After that, a session on cancer awareness was conducted to educate the millennials. Post the session, the amphitheatre at Cyberhub was turned into a ramp, showcasing ‘Fabric of Hope’ collection by Studio One.

The ten cancer warriors who modeled in designer garments to celebrate their personal victory over diagnosis and treatment to survivorship were the spotlights of the fashion show. The collection was an intriguing display of ensemble and exhibition of joy each survivor wishes to spread around them.

Under the beautiful makeup and clothes, there was a brave survivor spirit much more beautiful than anything that could’ve been seen from the outside.

Talking about the disease and the aim of the event, Dr. Neeti Leekha Chhabra, the Founder of Yes to Life said, “Cancer is still considered a taboo in our country and especially if it is of the breast, it becomes a bigger problem in terms of inhibitions surrounding the supposedly sexual organ.”

“The purpose of making the human chain with placards of survivor stories and fashion show of the cancer warriors was to show the public that there is life beyond breast cancer and this is one form of cancer that can be cured if diagnosed early,” she added.

“It was heartening to see the response and hopefully we are moving towards a healthier nation,” she concluded.
