WNS Cares Foundation (WCF), the CSR arm of WNS, has recently joined hands with Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL), an initiative under NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission. The association is in their bid to empower children and youth by educating them on topics pertaining to cyber-safety and digital education through CyberSmart, a free platform launched by WNS.
The mission behind launching CyberSmart was to make the subject of cyber-security comprehensible for the youths and help them tread through the virtual world cautiously. The platform can be used both online and offline. Through gamified learning methodologies including quiz-based modules, CyberSmart also seeks to help children tackle the challenges within cyberspace. Launched national in May 2020, it is India’s first holistic cyber-security education portal and is currently available in ten languages – English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu and Bengali. So far, it has empowered over 164,000 learners including teachers, parents and students alike.
In addition to CyberSmart, ATL will also be leveraging the online programs by WCF in over 6500 schools across the nation to introduce students to various aspects of cyber security and its related contents. The volunteers of WCF have already been helping ATL on the same to ensure effective delivery modules.
WCF associating with ATL is a part of its effort to “contribute to the Government of India’s lofty mission of empowering the citizens of tomorrow with future-ready skills”. “This partnership could not have come at a more opportune time when digital platforms and cyberspace are increasingly becoming an important dimension of children’s lives,” said Keshav R. Murugesh, Group CEO, WNS. Shamini Murugesh, Honorary Chief Mentor, WCF, said that the new association will surely enhance the accessibility of the CyberSmart and help impact thousands of children significantly, across India.
