Welspun Foundation for Health and Knowledge recently launched a home learning initiative called ‘Karona Thodi Masti, Thodi Padhai’ to boost the education sector and help government school students to continue with their studies amidst the pandemic. It has already enabled education for over 7500 students across 30 government schools in Anjar, Valsad and Bharuch and is looking to help more students. The initiative is a part of the organisation’s flagship program ‘Wel-Accelerate’ that aims to promote education at all levels.
For its home learning project, Welspun will be leveraging its technological capabilities and digital content and introduce education packages so that students will be prompted to learn in a fun manner. It has already interacted with over 100 primary teachers of government schools across three districts to discuss the challenges and feedback for creating home learning programme. With intermittent network connection in many remote parts of the country which has posed one of the greatest challenges for online learning, Welspun is seeking to use both offline and online platforms to ensure that in addition to learning in an engaging manner, students are able to complete their syllabus as well that has been curated by NCERT.
The home learning project includes creating worksheets on various subjects for the students and also a series of whatsapp and text messages to enable parents or guardians to engage children in project-based activities that are predominantly centred on subjects like Maths, Science, English and Arts including music and theatre.
“Welspun has always been at the forefront of encouraging and enabling children’s education with its marquee programme ‘Wel-Accelerate’. Taking cognizance of the disruptions caused by the ongoing pandemic to India’s educational system, we have launched a home learning initiative ‘Karona Thodi Masti, Thodi Padhai,” said Dipali Goenka, Trustee, Welspun Foundation.
