NGO Tamana collaborates with FDCI to host fashion show

A brain child of Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awardee Dr Shayama Chona, NGO Tamana recently hosted a fashion show, “Infinite Opportunity” in association with Fashion Design Council of India and hospitality partner Hyatt Regency New Delhi.

 

NGO Tamana collaborates with FDCI to host fashion show

Founded in year 2008, Tamana NGO is currently working with 65+ volunteers. Having worked for almost a decade, its volunteers have worked across various fields of the society such as health and education, women empowerment, environmental concerns, besides other social issues.

It teamed up with Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) to host the show “infinite opportunity”. The concept of the show was to showcase the differently-abled children of NGO. It was graced with the presence of various prominent personalities like Sangeeta Jaitely as the chief guest and Ms Harinder Sidhu, Australian High Commissioner to India as the Guest of Honour. Bollywood star Kriti Sanon was the supporter for the cause of Disability and Sunil Sethi the President of FDCI was the Torch Bearer of Inclusion, along with other illustrious attendees present at this annual event.

The event began with a welcome song, performed by visually impaired singer, Diwakar Sharma and Miss Teen Universe 2017, Srishti Kaur. Walking the ramp with prominent models crafted by FDCI designers- Abraham & Thakore, Anju Modi, Gaurav Jai Gupta, Payal Jain, Amit Aggarwal, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Payal Pratap Singh and Sanjay Garg; children Of Tamana NGO felt a sense of achievement.

It was followed by special designers from pearl academy who constructed a fashion laboratory in the jail no.6, of Tihar. The evening also saw Tamana Chona, dressed in a special outfit, which called off the proceedings for the day.

Every year, Tamana NGO organizes this event to encourage the differently-abled, with the support of FDCI. The event has now successfully completed its 10th anniversary. Concluding the show Sunil Sethi, President FDCI said that this year’s tagline ‘Infinite opportunity’, meaning that disabled also have infinite opportunities, is a new beginning for every individual. He further added, “It is absolutely an honor for us to associate with the devoted efforts of Tamana year by year. Over the years, Tamana’s annual fashion show has depicted that fashion does not discriminate and the differently-abled can also fulfil their aspirations of looking fashionable.”
