India’s leading online food ordering giant Swiggy rolled out a brand new initiative that will provide special care packages to its host of delivery partners all across India. The support program is aptly named ‘Swiggy Suraksha’ and follows the company’s decision to conduct vaccination drives for its delivery partners last month.
‘Swiggy Suraksha’ has been designed to provide adequate support and safety measures to over 1.5 lakh delivery partners and their immediate families. The special care package includes services like financial support and hospitalization cover for COVID-19 affected delivery partners or their family members.
The food tech giant has already busied itself in providing support to its delivery partners in cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Pune by donating oxygen cylinders, ambulances and vital medical supplies.
Under Swiggy Suraksha, delivery partners affected by CVOID-19 will be provided with financial and nutritional care support of Rs 14,000 for up to two weeks. In Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai, Swiggy will undertake doorstep delivery of home-style meals if the partner chooses to avail the facility.
Additionally, all partners and their family members who test positive will receive a hospitalization cover of up to Rs 1.5 lakh. In the worst-case scenario of an untimely death, Swiggy Suraksha has provided for an enhanced life insurance cover to Rs 5 lakh. Swiggy has gone a step further and promised to provide financial support for one week during the bereavement of a delivery partner or their immediate family (This is not limited to COVID-19 related death).
A 24X7 hotline has also been set up with the help of volunteers and dedicated members who will assist all delivery partners and their dependents with regard to hospitalization, access to ambulances, oxygen support and medical supplies in real-time. Doctor consultation via telemedicine for assessment and early diagnosis will also be made available.
Swiggy’s Chief Operating Officer Vivek Sunder said, “With Swiggy Suraksha, we are making sure that our delivery heroes also have the necessary support – including a 24X7 hotline for medical emergencies, access to doctors for themselves and their families, income support, free access to vaccines, hospitalization cover for themselves and their families if affected by Covid-19.”
