Suresh Nanda ties up with NGOs to aid the coronavirus-hit victims

What purpose do we serve as human being if we turn a blind eye to the needs of others? Especially when the world is in the chaos of pandemic outbreak that has not only engendered a health emergency but financial insecurity as well among the poor, philanthropy has become the need of the hour. While the front-line health workers have proven to be the heroes of our times, there are influencers, entrepreneurs, and organisations whose laudable efforts are also worth mentioning.

From food industry, tech, education, etc, initiatives have been pouring in from various sectors – be it in fulfilling our daily essentials, providing aid to the hospitals, or uplifting the life of poor and needy who have been bearing the brunt of the crisis. Similarly, to ease the battle against the pandemic, even the hotel industry has been doing the best it can on its part. Hoteliers like Suresh Nanda, have set a precedent for others within the hospitality industry.

The Claridges Chairman has recently tied up with several NGOs and other organisations to offer food to the ones grappling with food insecurity amid the lockdown. One of his associations is with the NGO South Women Association which was initiated to provide healthy meals to several daily wage workers and their families. Suresh Nanda also supplied several food items for the coronavirus-hit victims through the religious organisation Ramakrishna Mission, Delhi that initiates various kinds of charitable deeds.

With no prospect of income during the lockdown, thousands of poor people fear that ‘hunger may kill them before coronavirus does’. Thus, the entrepreneur extended his deepest sympathies to those who are struggling to keep their heads above water. “We are trying our best to support our employees as well as the communities around us. Though the times are tough, it is important that we help each other in every little way we can,” said Mr. Nanda. He also donated food to Second Chance School, Mahipalpur Delhi, a school for urban deprived young adults, to bolster its ongoing relief efforts.

This is not the first time that Suresh Nanda was seen initiating humanitarian works. The entrepreneur, though predominantly known for his hospitality marvels, has long been an advocate of philanthropy, be it towards his employees or marginalised communities.
