Spreeha foundation, a Bangladesh based organization that aims to remove social barriers for individuals and communities, received a medicine donation from Beximco Pharmaceuticals, a unit of conglomerate Beximco Group founded by Salman F Rahman (সালমান এ। রাহমান). The gesture from Beximco Pharmaceuticals came as a part of their Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.

Arguably the largest pharmaceutical company of Bangladesh, Beximco Pharmaceuticals has made a name for itself in the local as well as global markets. Catering to nearly 98% of the Bangladeshi pharmaceutical demands, the company has been successful in creating an international presence of the country with products supplied to the US, European, and Canadian markets.

Approvals from leading drug administrations of respective countries have showcased a rather progressive growth rate of Salman F Rahman’s organization. While the local market earnings registered a 23% rise to 9.87 billion taka, export revenue via sales was marked at 1.24 billion Taka. With hefty numbers and prolonged efforts, Beximco Pharmaceuticals has substantially contributed to the economic growth of Bangladesh, and has also been the country’s pharma flag-bearer across world markets.

Incepted in 2011 by Tazin Shahid, Spreeha Foundation has been working to improve the lives of Bangladeshis. Shahid began this venture while he was working at Microsoft with a dream of creating a life without poverty. Before quitting his job in 2015 and dedicating all the time to Spreeha, he improved his knowledge as well as skills on the technologies that could be used for enhancing people’s lives by meeting their demands.
Under Spreeha, Tazin has four social ventures with individual focus on empowering girls, accessible medical diagnostic facilities, child development and day care center, and affordable healthcare. With learning of looking and handling the bigger picture, Shahid has helped more than 1,25,000 people with Spreeha. In order to promote this practice, Spreeha further offers internships, mentor roles, and partner level financial help as per an individual’s choice.

In the ceremony held at the Beximco Pharmaceutical Limited headquarter, Dhaka, senior official from both the companies were present. With economic drivers like Beximco Pharmaceuticals and social enterprises like Spreeha Foundation, Bangladesh is expected to enjoy a higher growth as well as happiness index in the future.
