Master Blaster’s straight drives during his active cricketing career once made India smile and Indians proud. Post-retirement, Sachin Tendulkar is now working to bring joy to the lives of children through his noble initiatives. He has made it his life’s goal to provide a brighter future for children from underprivileged sections of society who lack access to basic infrastructure such as healthcare and education. India’s favourite cricketer has crossed all barriers to serve the community and bring a positive change in the lives of thousands of children, truly crafting brighter innings for them.
The foundation is a philanthropic initiative of Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali Tendulkar, to build a better future for children.
The Sachin Tendulkar Foundation was formed as a collaborative platform, bringing together people and institutions passionate about social change. This collective effort will give children equal opportunity and create a better world for them. The foundation has been working in crucial areas to bring a positive transformation in children’s lives.
The foundation engages with various hospitals and institutions to provide them with funding and equipment and ensure proper healthcare for the underprivileged. “Inga Health Foundation” is one such example; it works to treat children with facial cleft defects and craniofacial deformities in India. Children with such deformities
Sachin Tendulkar, during his recent visit to Kashmir, interacted with children who received treatment and can now live normal lives.
“Ekam Foundation,” “SRCC Children’s Hospital,” and Makunda Hospital are also partners with the foundation to provide quality healthcare for children in different parts of the country.
Sachin Tendulkar Foundation also engages with the “United Nations Children’s Education Fund” (UNICEF) and various schools. It undertakes activities like school kit distribution, donating equipment like computers and benches, revamping the infrastructure, etc.
A partner named “Vidyarthi Vikas Yojna” helps bright children in higher education and provides financial assistance and mentoring support to help them realise their dreams.
Another institution that partners with the Tendulkar Foundation is the “Parivaar Foundation,” which works with tribal communities in Madhya Pradesh. It aims to provide nutrition and education to ensure the holistic growth of children through ‘Seva Kutirs’ in remote villages.
Being a sportsperson himself, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar advocates for empowerment through sports-based education. The Tendulkar Foundation partners with the “Hi-5 Foundation” to provide basketball training to youth from tribal areas in Maharashtra, Gujarat, and West Bengal through its initiative, ‘Hope through Hoops.’
“Shreeja India Foundation” in Kolkata is promoting girls in sports and sports-based development of rural girls through its ‘Football and Beyond Programme’ in collaboration with Sachin Tendulkar Foundation.
Sachin Tendulkar started his second innings post-retirement and has been an active agent of change through his foundation. His involvement with the children from rural, tribal, and underprivileged sections of society to ensure their holistic development is a tale of crossing all barriers to give back to the community. We salute his determined efforts to bring positive change in the rural and remote landscapes of India. Indeed, Sachin is batting for a cause to ensure a better and brighter future for the children in India through his initiative.
