Renault’s Lazarus Project Launches R.E.L.I.V.E. Program in Partnership with Cero Recycling

Renault has come out in support of the government’s new vehicle scrapping policy by revealing its R.E.L.I.V.E. program. It has been launched in partnership with Mahindra’s Cero Recycling and will ensure a hassle-free experience for anyone looking to scrap their old vehicles and get new ones.

Cero Recycling is a joint venture between Mahindra Intertrade Limited and Metal Scrap Trade Corporation Limited (MSTC). Mahindra was the first to come up with a seam-less process for its customers. With this announcement, Renault is close behind.

Through this collaboration, Renault will take care of the entire process – from the vehicle’s evaluation and valuation to the RTO registration and the issuing of the Certificate of Destruction (COD). These perks will however be available to only those looking to purchase a new Renault vehicle.

It is also offering additional scrap benefits along with a handful of other discounts on select models, namely the Renault Triber, Kiger, Kwid and Duster.

These facilities will also be available to those willing to scrap their 2-wheelers in lieu of purchasing a new Renault product. Renault Finance will also offer a special 7.99% rate of interest to such prospects in such cases.

Venkatram Mamillapalle, Country CEO and MD, Renault India Operations said, “We have launched the programme in New Delhi and NCR, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru by partnering with Cero Recycling.”

He also reiterated that the new scrappage policy was a correct step in the right direction and would enable the Indian automobile industry to adopt better, cleaner and safer technology while contributing to pollution control and reduction.

Commenting on the tie-up, Sumit Issar, MD of Mahindra Intertrade Ltd. said, “The arrangement with Renault is going to strengthen the reach and benefit all its vehicle customers & prospects who are looking for solutions for scrapping their old vehicles.”

The new scrappage policy will be effective come October 1 and its announcement by company is certainly a welcome one. While its services are limited to 6 cities currently, Cero’s plans to expand its operation to 25 other cities might just spur Renault to do the same.
