Being one of the top companies in the industry is a huge responsibility. They not only work for the betterment of society by providing their services in exchange of money, but also believe in catering the needs of people and society without charging anything. The corporate social responsibility is that second way which is the measure of leading organizations to come out of the abyss it is in and be a part of a better society.
Indian industrialists spend thousands of crores on CSR activities only and that is too on annual basis. Last year Reliance Industry spent Rs 750 crore towards their corporate social responsibility. Other top 74 companies also spent on their CSR activities which all estimated more than Rs 4000 crore collaboratively. These companies took different initiatives after the government made it mandatory for big organizations last year, to give away a part of their earnings for social cause.
Education, healthcare, sanitation, sustainable livelihood and community infrastructure development are the various sectors on which Reliance Industry is spending from a long time, even before government’s declaration to make it a mandatory process because they acknowledge their role pretty well in the society, in which they operate their functions. In order to do their CSR activities, Reliance Industry partner with government bodies, NGOs, graam panchayat, district authorities, locals from neighboring villages and sometimes external agencies who are expert in the relevant field.
Rural development, promotion of sports-art-culture, basic healthcare provision, clean Ganges initiative, PM relief fund, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, education and other necessary requirements of people in the society; it all come under the domain of CSR activities s per the government.
