Network18, St Stephen’s college join hands; launch a course to promote education for all

Network18 and St Stephen’s college have joined hands to offer a course that promotes education for all. The citizenship and cultural enrichment course is aimed at harnessing the educational resources of the media fraternity.

Supreme Court judge Justice Lokur said, “The course is ready to reach out to the people and to make them better citizens of the country.”

St Stephens will now hold weekly classes for this 10 month course which is open to all students and professionals. The course will explore a range of topics from government transparency and foreign policy to human rights and law and order. The content of the lectures will also be made available across digital and social media platforms.

Former chief election commissioner Dr SY Quraishi said, “The members of the faculty have a life long experince.”

Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar said, “The idea of thinking along with grown up people about the better governance and related issues were extremely important.”

St Stephen’s Principal Valson Thampu emphasized the necessity of the course and highlighted that the journalistic fraternity holds a treasure trove of knowledge and experience.

“The very purpose of this course is to become responsible citizens. Network 18 and particularly CNN-IBN has gladly become a part of Stephen college which is a sign of robustness in media.”

Educational institutions and media establishments share a sense of social responsibility and this initiative aims to deepen their partnership for the benefit of future generations.
