Changing Lives Together: Nando’s and Robin Hood Army distribute 25000 fresh meals in Bangalore & Delhi

Nando’s, the South African restaurant chain, in collaboration with the volunteer-based zero-funds Robin Hood Army, has provided 25,000 fresh, nutritious chicken meals to the needy across the slums of Bangalore and Delhi. The initiative that started in July will continue until August 15, 2020 and is currently serving the socially vulnerable sector of the society with nutritious Nando’s meals.

Be it the pre or post pandemic era, Nando’s has always been one of the most actively involved brands in conducting social initiatives to contribute their bit in giving back to society. “The current crisis hasn’t been very kind to the vulnerable. Out of the 2,000 meals we’ve distributed over the last four days, 70% have been given to daily wage workers who lost their means of livelihood during the COVID-19 pandemic”, said Sameer Bhasin, Chief Executive Officer, Nando’s. In addition to this, for any worker who doesn’t know where his next meal will come from; providing him a fresh, hot and nutritious meal a day will reduce his worry considerably. The gourmet brand also states that they could not have found a better partner than Robin Hood Army.

As a brand, Nando’s, a South African restaurant chain that specializes in Portuguese-African food, including its signature flame-grilled peri-peri style chicken, believes in ‘Changing Lives Together’. Founded in Johannesburg in 1987, Nando’s operates over 1,000 outlets in 35 countries. Robin Hood Army, a volunteer-based Zero funds organisation that works to get surplus food from restaurants to the less fortunate sections of society in cities across India and 12 other countries, has been working endlessly to ensure that people belonging to these sections always have food on their plate.

“Our Robins across the world try their level best to address the hunger in local communities, and bring smiles to the least fortunate. We are really grateful to partner with global food chain Nando’s and serve 25000 fresh meals to those who need it most across Delhi, Bangalore, and Chandigarh,” said Neel Ghose, Founder, Robin Hood Army.

Each Nando’s casa or restaurant in Bangalore and Delhi will be cooking a fresh, hot meal of chicken and rice, packed keeping all hygiene and sanitation protocols in mind. With the vast network of The Robin Hood Army, the volunteers will be distributing these meals to those in need across the two cities.
