Maruti Suzuki invested Rs 154 in FY19 towards CSR initiative.

On Tuesday, Maruti Suzuki India announced that it had invested Rs 154 crore in FY19 towards its CSR initiatives.

The company is putting its efforts in community development, skill development and road safety as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).

MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, Kenichi Ayukawa said, “The projects are selected based on need-assessment and stakeholder consultation. These are closely monitored by the company, and third-party impact assessment is carried out.”

He added that Maruti Suzuki’s CSR efforts are in the line with sustainable development goals as defined by the United Nations.

The company stated that it is doing community development works across 26 villages of Gujarat and Haryana in the areas of education, community infrastructure, and water and sanitation.

Moreover, the company is also supporting over 100 government industrial training institutions across India.

It also trained over 4,00,000 people in its Institutes of Driving Training and Research (7 in number) and road safety knowledge centres (16 in number) the company said.

Last month, Maruti Suzuki in a statement said that full batch of 308 students of the Maruti Suzuki’s Japan-India Institute of Manufacturing (JIM), Mehsana, Gujarat got successfully placed in reputed organisations.

JIM institute was set-up in 2017 in collaboration with Ganpat University Gujarat. The courses are affiliated with the National Council for Vocational Training and are accredited by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan.
