M3M India, a prominent real estate developer, has expanded its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts by launching a skills training academy called iMpower Academy for Skills through its philanthropic arm, M3M Foundation. The academy aims to provide employability skills to 10,000 young people in Haryana, with the objective of improving their career prospects. M3M Foundation has undertaken various social initiatives in India, including pandemic aid, education, sustainability, and economic development.
The iMpower Academy for Skills has been established in Tauru, Nuh district, as part of M3M’s vision to empower youth, address the pressing issue of unemployment and contribute towards the M3M CSR activities. The academy will provide a three-month skills training program focused on high-demand skills like fashion designing, beauty therapy, electrical work, two-wheeler mechanics, and more based on the market requirements.
The course curriculum has been designed to equip youth with both theoretical and practical knowledge along with soft skills to improve their employability. M3M has partnered with NGO Aide-et-Action for the on-ground implementation and operations of the training program. As part of the course, participants will receive study materials, audio-visual aids, assignments, assessments and scorecards to track their progress.
Prior to launching the academy, M3M conducted an Employability Potential Assessment (EEPA) to understand the interests and requirements of local youth in the Nuh district. This allowed them to customize the training programs being offered to match their aspirations. M3M Foundation Trustee Dr. Payal Kanodia stressed the need to engage constructively with school dropouts and provide them with structured interventions to put their careers back on track.
The skills academy aims to have an integrated impact by improving the technical skills of youth, helping them gain confidence, and giving them access to placement opportunities or entrepreneurship prospects after completion of the course. The well-rounded approach hopes to maximize positive outcomes for the beneficiaries.
With over 75% of the population engaged in low-productivity agriculture in the Nuh district, the iMpower Academy for Skills hopes to introduce alternative livelihood options for youth by equipping them with specialized skills. Trainees will also receive guidance on entrepreneurship opportunities so they can consider setting up independent enterprises.
By targeting school dropouts between 18-35 years of age, the program aims to tap into a key demographic that often gets left out of mainstream skilling schemes. For M3M, CSR activities are set to be the utmost priority as the centre aligns with their philosophy that channelizing India’s young workforce into skilled manpower is crucial for boosting employability and creating a sustainable livelihood.
The skills academy launch is part of M3M Foundation’s continuous efforts towards community upliftment and a contribution through M3M CSR activities through interventions in education, skill development, health and other critical areas.
