India CSR organizes Bengaluru Dialogue on CSR Governance

India CSR, one of the largest CSR news portal in the country, hosted Bengaluru Dialogue on ‘CSR Governance’ on January 31, 2020, in the city Bengaluru. India CSR Dialogue welcomed an exclusive gathering of CSR leaders to deliberate on issues related to corporates and social responsibility.

The event brought more than 30 CSR leaders to take the center stage and talk about effective CSR governance and related issues. The discussion would be likely to conclude within about 4 hours, including a roundtable of 40 CSR leaders.

The discussion was conducted and mentored by Apresh Mishra of India CSR Network, Atul Sud of Perfetti Van Melle India, and Jyotsna Belliappa of Business. Three sessions were conducted which circled around weighty issues of CSR Compliance & Beyond (Compliance to law and beyond, areas such as Accountability, Transparency, ethical behaviour, respect for stakeholder interests), CSR Governance and Leadership (National Guidelines for Responsible Business Conduct recommends), and CSR Governance and Brand Risk.

Apresh Mishra, Editor of India CSR Network, said: “Based on discussions and deliberations among the CSR leaders at the dialogue, the first draft of the framework will act as a calling for more CSR leaders across the country to collaborate.”

“This initiative is in collaboration and consultation with a large number of CSR leaders. The Framework document after various level of consultation is expected to be ready in the first week of May and will be released at 11th CSR Leadership Summit”, he said.

CSR governance

After CSR became a mandate in the country, companies are observed to increasingly trying to go beyond the compliance, and ensuring that their CSR efforts create maximum impact through mutual efforts by working with the employees, their families, communities, experts and the society.

The role of governance, in this regard, extends as a regulatory body, keeping a check on transparency, accountability and assurance, which has increasingly become imperative.
