Incredible CSR success stories which are sure to inspire many!

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) has always been at the core of development in India. A country slowly progressing to share the superpower pedestal amongst other countries, it is being backed by activities done by the corporate sector.

Supporting the notion, the government also made it mandatory for companies to spend a part of their earnings in CSR activities. With a specific set of guidelines under the Companies Act 2013, the last 4 years have seen tremendous development in multiple sectors.

Following are some of the major happenings in the CSR sector that led to development in areas that need it the most:

Grundfos India
The pump manufacturer has teamed up with Madhi Foundation, an NGO working towards providing education to children. With multiple programs being run in numerous communities across India, it focuses on different educational aspects. Under the ‘Transformational Academic Programme’ (TAP) launched by the NGO in 2015, it started 40 classrooms in 15 corporation schools in Chennai.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt Ltd
Honda is a widely known and trusted name in the automobile arena that is no less than a force to be reckoned with. Alongside, the company has been keeping up their CSR tally with multiple programs across the country.

  • Women security guards training, Gurugram, Haryana
  • Nai Rahein project for Visually challenged at Alwar, Rajasthan
  • Reducing carbon emissions with solar power grid – Traffic Training Park & Public Park, Karnal

Apart from these, the auto giant has various other projects that are helping make the world a better place.

Tata Group
a) According to India CSR, over 10,000 species are going extinct every year, bringing an average of 27 species vanishing from the planet earth every day. Doing its bit to safeguard the environment, the Tata Group has been running numerous programs at multiple locations.

  • Greater sage-grouse, Tata Chemicals North America, Wyoming, the US
  • Snow leopard, Tata Housing, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh, India
  • One-horned rhinoceros, Tata Capital, Assam, India

Multiple other companies under the aegis of Tata Group have been working hard to keep the planet alive.

  1. b) Okha, a coastal town in Devbhoomi Dwarka district of Gujarat, is a drought prone area. With limited access to technology and the outer world, earning a livelihood is a difficult task. The efforts of Tata Chemicals in the form of Okhai handicraft centers have provided employment opportunities to many women in the area. With a tradition deep seated around the craft, the women are able to earn approximately Rs 5,000 per month. This has helped them earn respect, and also support their households.

Samsung India Electronics Pvt Ltd
Amongst the biggest electronic device manufacturers in India, Samsung has been working rigorously towards empowering multiple sectors in the country.

  • Education – Samsung Smart Class
  • Employability – Samsung Technical School Program
  • Health and Medical care – Blood Donation Drives
  • Sports – Samsung Ratna Program
  • Response to Humanitarian Disasters

With direct communication from the board of directors, the local teams work closely with the company’s CSR agendas.

The CSR activities happening all over the country have been making a deep impact in helping people live better. With basic facilities being provided, people dwelling in remote areas are connecting with present day technologies.

Not only this, with the tales of these acts being published on multiple platforms, an increasing number of people and organizations are joining hands for improving the condition of our planet in every way possible.
