Talking about the plight of Anuppur, the official spokesperson of Hindustan Powerprojects stated that, “Anuppur being a small district has limited health care facilities and specialized burn treatment doctors. Due to the inadequate health facilities at the local health center of Anuppur (as is the case of most of the health centers in rural India), the patients suffering from serious injuries had to be airlifted.”
The management of Hindustan Powerprojects adopted a three pronged approach of medical treatment and airlifted the patients suffering from serious injuries that required specialized treatment to Raipur and subsequently to Delhi. . The patients with injuries requiring immediate access to medical services were taken to Bilaspur and the patients with minor injuries were treated at Anuppur itself. Following this approach, all the injured patients got specialized treatment according to their needs. Thus, the absence of inadequate medical facilities is no longer a barrier towards accessing proper medical services. It is well evident and demonstrated by the management of Hindustan Power in this unfortunate accident. It is one of the rarest occasions in which a helping hand was extended by a corporate to such a great extend, resulting in speedy recovery of the patients. With the timely medical treatment provided by Hindustan Power, the company has set up an example in the field of medical evacuation.
