Driving a transformational change: Flipkart Group launches the Flipkart Foundation

E-commerce giant Flipkart recently announced the creation of its own Flipkart Foundation to oversee CSR initiatives and projects. The move is a welcome on indeed and will provide the company with a platform to engage more closely with the community.

According to the Group’s official statement, the Foundation will aim to positively impact the lives of at least 20 million Indians over the next decade.

The Flipkart Foundation will join hands with the various stakeholders, including government organizations, NGOs and community leaders, to ensure that a transformative change is effected across the country.

Consequently, the focus will be on building close-working relations with the under-served and under-privileged communities. The four key focus areas are:

  • Market access to the underserved and underrepresented sections of the society for sustained growth opportunities for entrepreneurship and livelihood opportunities
  • Skill development
  • Community development, and
  • Environmental Responsibility

The organization already has a deep-rooted presence in the country, thanks to its wide reaching network. This will definitely be leveraged by the Foundation as it carries on Flipkart’s efforts to ensure an inclusive growth model that drives grass-root level impact across the diverse Indian landscape.

All future projects and initiatives undertaken by the Foundation will be funded through grants, contributions from the Flipkart Group, and most importantly, through the ‘Charity Checkout’ feature available on Flipkart platforms. The feature makes philanthropic giving more accessible to the common man, involving them in this noble mission.

Speaking at the launch, Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Flipkart, said, “With a vision of Building a New India Together, the Flipkart Foundation is our commitment to engage with diverse stakeholders to enable transformational development work for society and the economy.”

He further stated that the Foundation would, through various initiatives, address underlying issues ranging from reviving arts and craft, employment generation for the under-privileged and disaster relief. “We have set audacious targets for the Foundation and aim to influence 20 million lives directly and indirectly in the coming decade across a wide array of areas by utilizing our learnings over the years,” he concluded.
