With Companies Act 2013, India became the first country to mandate Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for all companies. Business houses, with annual revenues of over 10 billion rupees are required to entrust at least 2 per cent of their net profit to charity.India is home to a few family-led conglomerates that have a long tradition of serving the society.   1. Eliminating hunger, poverty and malnutrition prevailing largely in the country, and promoting good healthcare and sanitation facilities
  2. Making safe drinking water available for in and around its operational locations
  3. Promoting education for all, including special education, and providing employment to the locals
  4. Helping the unemployed to enhance their vocational skills, especially among children, women, elderly through organizing livelihood enhancement projects
  5. Promoting gender equality, empowering women, setting up homes and hostels for women and orphans, old age homes, day care centers and such other facilities for senior citizens
  6. Ensuring environmental sustainability, ecological balance, protection of flora and fauna, animal welfare, agro-forestry, conservation of natural resources and maintaining quality of soil, air and water;
  7. Preservation of the national heritage, art and culture, which includes restoration of sites of historical importance and works of art
  8. Financially backing up the military veterans, war widows and their dependents
  9. Setting up camps to promote sports in remote areas of the country, to encourage the promising talent to participate in sporting events
  10. In line with the Prime Ministers’ National Relief Fund, the company provides funds for the country’s socio-economic development. It also contributes towards the welfare of the backward classes and minorities
  11. Funding the technology incubators within the government approved academic institutions
