Chief Minister Manohar Lal Takes A Step Forward Towards CSR Mission

An important event towards strengthening the roots of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the country, will be held on November 12. The CSR summit will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister, Manohar Lal, in Gurugram.
The event is expected to gather 600 guests, from the corporate world. A meeting that chaired Haryana’s Chief Secretary, Mr D.S. Desai, confirmed that the Institute of Corporate Affairs (ICA) and KPMG, will participate in the summit as knowledge partners. During the Haryana conference, a CSR Portal will be launched, aligning the mission with increased accessibility.

Funds for development and community support will be directed through the portal. An official spokesperson affirms that the web-portal invites active participation of companies, willing to collaborate under CSR, with the district government.

The spokesperson added, that the Chief Minister has approved creating a Corporate Social Responsibility Advisory Board, for guidance and review, and to promote support from the business stakeholders, the government and society. The Advisory Board will be headed by the Chief Minister with the Finance Minister, Industries Minister and Chief Secretary being the members of the Board.

The CSR Advisory Board will be the prime body to frame the regulations and the code of conduct, in relation to the functioning of Haryana CSR Executive Committee.

The Chief Minister will also facilitate award winners, for their contribution towards society, and would oversee the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), between Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) and Haryana Government, to create a CSR Project Management Unit.
The financial project monitoring will be done by the advisory board for each individual project. Descriptive reports will be presented to the board and CSR stakeholders for every activity. Further assistance for promotion of CSR practices will also be promptly answered by the board.

The Summit comes with objective is to promote community support and public infrastructure through corporate citizenship.
