Campaign to tackle e-waste launched by Adcom

Adcom India famous for its tech accessories in collaboration with Karo Sambhav, India’s leading Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) has flagged off their campaign titled ‘Hum E-waste Le Jayenge’ from its head office located in New Delhi. Bearing in mind the environment’s present situation, the campaign has been launched with the goal to spread awareness about e-waste while educating individuals regarding social implications of e-waste and significance of efficiently managing it in a regulated manner.

Majority of the electronic materials are improperly thrown away and they contain various harmful materials such as Beryllium, Cadmium, Mercury, and Lead. When e-waste is warmed up and dumped inappropriately they intend to release air-damaging chemicals. Therefore, it’s very essential to recycle and dispose of e-waste cautiously to prevent environmental damages.

Electronic waste is the disposal of fragmented or obsolete electronic components and materials. These could be recycled and created from anything electronic like computers, TVs, monitors, printers, cell phones, PDAs, VCRs, CD players, fax machines and many other electronic devices.

Adcom India’s Head Office witnessed the launch of a campaign to mentor their team in identifying and segregating distinctive e-waste and promoting the same cause. For enhancing participation, Adcom embarked a social media campaign on various platforms. A dedicated helpline number 8800-977-978 is also set up for people to raise the request for collection of the electronic waste directly from their home and efficiently recycling it in a structured manner.

Across the globe, India is the fourth-largest producer of e-waste and less than 3% of the total waste gets recycled. The Campaign is aiming to create awareness by teaching the public to understand its criticality and encourage proper disposal.
