Banks complement Bangladeshi police officers with 1 lakh PPE & masks

Beximco PPE Division, a new vertical of Beximco Group, which is Co-founded by Salman F Rahman, one of the most successful businessmen in Bangladesh, produced these international standard 1 lakh PPE and 1 lakh masks.

In an attempt to safeguard police officers tasked with enforcing COVID-19 lockdown in Bangladesh, seven private banks donated about 100,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) and the same number of masks to them.

These seven banks, namely IFIC Bank, National Bank Limited, United Commercial Bank, Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd, Dhaka Bank Limited, First Security Islami Bank Limited, Bank Asia Limited came forward to provide PPE and masks to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed at police headquarters, as per the press release.

In the wake of coronavirus pandemic, more than 2,0000 officers in the South Asian nation are working round-the-clock to ensure that people practice social distancing. However, the confirmed number of cases has now risen up to 8000, which also includes about 740 police officials.

Police officials are also in close contact with people— limiting mass gatherings, taking people to hospitals, creating a higher risk of being infected, said Sohel Rana, Assistant Inspector General (IGP) of police headquarters (PHQ). Pleased with the great initiative, the IGP expressed his gratitude to the banks for helping police work during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Beximco PPE Division, a new division of Beximco Group, produced the international standards of PPE and masks,” said the AIG. This move could ensure better safety for the police personnel in Bangladesh as they are among the most vulnerable, along with the frontline healthcare workers.
