Nepal, the Himalayan Nation is as yet lamenting for the awful 7.9 Richter scale earthquake that it was struck by. The dusk of 25 April has dumbfounded not only the country but the whole world which is supporting Nepal with all it can.
The capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu, faced a cataclysmic destruction as the stone-made town houses were all wiped out owing to their proximity to the epicenter. Neither were most of the old and fragile structures in the city saved. The earthquake held in its wake an environmental apocalypse which ensued massive devastation for the country.
In order to help our neighborhood country and do our bit, almost all big and small entrepreneurs, companies, individuals and NGOs have come up with donations, charities and various kinds of help that can aid the ailing country.
Big educational institutes like Sharda and Amity University were seen organizing Corporate Social Responsibility Conclaves. Both universities have set an example for others to pursue. The students of Galgotias University are also collecting charity to aid the victims of the catastrophe.
The chancellor of Amity University donated Rs 5 lakh to the relief fund, launched in association with an NGO.
Sharda University’s deputy registrar Ajit Kumar said all staff members will donate one day’s salary to their relief fund.
Students of Noida International University, Galgotias University, and other private colleges are also collecting donations for victims.
Students at several academic institutions in Noida and Greater Noida have launched donation campaigns to provide relief to earthquake victims in Nepal.
With the crops getting failed, monsoon delayed, seasons getting topsy-turvy, water resources saline and dying-off species, it is the need of the hour to change our ways. If not that, a global sense of support in the times of devastating repercussions of our actions is a mandate.
