Amidst COVID-19 outbreak, Vivo India contributes 15,000 PPE suits and 50,000 litres of sanitizer

Smartphone maker Vivo India has contributed 15,000 PPE suits and 50,000 litre of sanitizer to the central government in order to prevent frontline workers and healthcare professionals from COVID-19 spread.

Till now a number of healthcare workers have died across India due to coronavirus outbreak and lack of personal protection equipment (PPE) kits in several regions.

“Vivo acknowledges the role caregivers are playing in these testing times, and as a responsible corporate, Vivo stands with the government in its fight against COVID-19. We have pledged to supply PPE suits and sanitizers to the central government to protect the corona warriors fighting on the frontline to control the pandemic,” said Nipun Marya, Director of brand strategy, Vivo India.

Previously, the company also donated approximately 9 lakh masks to the state and central government and local bodies. Presently, the entire Nation is under lockdown and Healthcare workers are relentlessly making rigorous efforts under challenging circumstances against the spread of this deadly virus. There are over 31,000 COVID-19 positive cases. It has led to a huge demand for protective gear for healthcare workers across the country and such contributions from corporates are appreciable.

Numerous corporate houses have joined the fight against the virus and are backing the Nation generously in different ways. Mahindra & Mahindra Group had offered to transform Mahindra resorts into the care facilities for patients. Tata Sons and Tata Trusts have pledged to contribute Rs 1,500 crore, on the other hand, Reliance Industries contributed Rs 500 crore towards PM CARES, 5 crore each towards Maharashtra CM and Gujarat CM’s funds. Last month, the Finance Ministry announced to consider donations towards the PM-CARES fund as a CSR activity. Additionally, the government declared that all donations for this would be eligible for 100% tax deductions.
