Kumar Mangalam Birla, the billionaire industrialist and Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, was conferred with the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award, for his significant contributions to trade and industry. This prestigious honor marks the fourth time a member of the Birla family has received a Padma award.

His mother, Rajshree Birla, and grand-uncle, Ganga Prasad Birla, were previously honored with the Padma Bhushan in 2011 and 2006, respectively. Moreover, his great-grandfather, G D Birla, received the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award, in 1957.
Upon receiving the Padma Bhushan, Kumar Mangalam Birla expressed his humility and gratitude. He stated that the spirit of nation-building and trusteeship has been a guiding principle for his family across generations. He thanked President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this prestigious recognition.
