ACES organises women’s car rally to promote education for girls

Association of St Joseph’s Convent Ex students (ACES) organised a women’s car rally in the city on Sunday to promote girls’ education and women empowerment.

Subhakti Inamdar bagged the first prize of cash award Rs 35,000 while second prize was given to Rima Makhija and third prize was bagged by Subhadra Chaudhary. There was a tie between Subhakti and Rima so a quiz was held for them to decide the winner of the rally.

Eighty   women cruised in their cars a distance of a circuit of 45 kilometres with various catchy slogans– ‘Khoob Padho, Khoob badho’ (Be educated well and touch heights) and ‘Shikshit Nari, Sashakt Samaj, (Educated woman, empowered society).

Mayor Alok Sharma flagged off the rally at Hotel Sayaji. He also distributed books and other study material to girl children before the rally began. The cars participating in the rally carried slogans about the importance of education for girl child, safety and respect for women in India. Another participant Rashmi Gupta said women empowerment is very important as they can create positive atmosphere in the country.

Mayor Alok Sharma said, “ACES has done a commendable job to promote girls education and women empowerment. Such practices should be carried on to create awareness among women. Now it is a responsibility of each and every person to educate the girl child for the healthy society.”

ACES president Reeta Lalwani said, “Eighty   women participated in the car rally and many of them were in the getup of Nobel laureate Malala Yousufzai. The participants drove their cars covering a circuit of 45 kilometers starting from Hotel Sayaji and ended at the same place.”
