AAI donates ambulances to GMCH and IGGMCH as a part of CSR campaign

The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has provided ambulances, one each to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) as a part of one among other Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Yudhishthir Sahoo, General Manager of Air Traffic Management in AAI, handed over the keys of the ambulances to Dr. Sajal Mitra, Dean, GMCH and Dr Ajay Keolia, Dean of IGGMCH.

“We have just started, and hope to go a long way in terms of discharging our Corporate Social Responsibility. At Airports Authority of India, we take our responsibility very seriously and have always believed in Integrated Community Development by engaging in the CSR projects. AAI spends about 2% of the profits for the CSR activities across India,” said Sahoo.

Previous year also AAI donated an ambulance to sub-district hospital in Tiroda as a part of CSR campaign. Ambulances were required from a long time in these hospitals and with the support of AAI medical services, it would provide assistance to patients on time.

Top officials of AAI and hospitals were present for the ceremonious event. AAI also declared to donate a bus to Shraddhanand Anathalaya and assist them to build a shelter home. It is planning to collaborate with Nagpur Municipal Corporation and announced to handover a mobile unit of ladies toilet.

Apart from managing the flights of Nagpur Airport, AAI Nagpur also provides Air Navigation Services to over 1500 flights per day. It has advanced technological setup and ensures safe connecting of flights across the world.

On April 1, 2014, The Companies Act came into existence which specifies that the companies with turnover of Rs 1000 crore or more, net worth of Rs 500 crore or more, or a net profit of Rs 5 crore or more in fiscal year are required to give two per cent of profits for corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
