The theme of the 12th India CSR Leadership Summit has very aptly captured the need of the hour. ‘Resurgent India – Leapfrogging Development through Innovation & Entrepreneurship’ is a thought-provoking title that invites discourse on what India must do to become a frontrunner in the global community.
The event will be held at the Ritz-Carlton, Bengaluru, on December 10, from 2:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Shri CN Ashwath Narayan, Hon. Minister for IT, BT, and Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka, will grace the summit as Guest of Honour. Up for discussion will be topics related to leveraging entrepreneurship and innovation to address the social challenges India faces at present. The event will also focus on developing holistic solutions to solve critical problems faced by Education, Environment, Healthcare, and Livelihood.
The COVID-19 pandemic has ignited the minds of the youth and turned them into potential problem-solvers. The onus will be on the stakeholders to come up with plans that can tap into India’s bright minds and utilize them for the country’s growth. Commenting on the event, Mr. Rusen Kumar, Founder of India CSR Network, said, “The summit will explore a radical idea of channelizing CSR funding to support budding social enterprises to create large-scale impact.”
The idea of using CSR funding to promote social enterprises is not a new one. However, its application in the Indian context leaves much to be desired. This is exactly what the 12th Summit will address. The viability of setting up an infrastructure where the CSR community funds social entrepreneurs will definitely be the highlight of the evening.
Some of the key sessions to be held in the Summit include Aggregating Philanthropic Capital for Scaling up Societal Innovations; Leveraging Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship for Social and Environmental Impact and Transforming Non-profits for Impact at Scale. Prominent figures will also address the gathering during the course of the event, including Prashant Prakash, Partner, Accel Partners; Manoj Kumar, Founder, Social Alpha; Anita Kumar, Head – Amazon in the Community, India CSR; and Abhishek Ranjan, Chairman, CSR & Sustainability, Southern Region, ASSOCHAM.
The event comes at a time when the world is facing the distinct possibility of witnessing another global lockdown. Addressing this immediate challenge will surely be on the mind of all present. What will be interesting is the way they choose to address the issue and the outcomes of the summit – both short and long-term impacts.
