July was a month of enlightenment for over 3,400 cattle owners and farmers in the five districts of Rajasthan. They were a part of Hindustan Zinc Limited’s SAMADHAN project to empower and uplift the cattle rearing communities in the state.

SAMADHAN is Hindustan Zinc’s flagship program that focuses on improving the livelihood of farmers and livestock rearers through agricultural and livestock interventions. So far, the project has benefitted more than 13,838 farmers and 15,103 cattle owners.

Hindustan Zinc organized a month-long cattle health camp, covering five districts in July. Over 3,400 cattle owners including women farmers benefitted from the project, which imparted technical training and the know-how to enhance their livelihood. More than 35,800 cattle were checked for diseases and possible deformities and health services like deworming, vaccination, artificial insemination (AI) along with checkups for seasonal livestock diseases were also provided.

Cattle health camps like this are a part of the SAMADHAN project. Its ultimate goal is the holistic development of the settled communities in these regions and the enhancement of their livelihood. Cattle and livestock are an important extension of the populace in these parts and regular health camps ensure that the best, scientific practices along with the technical know-how are passed on to these farmers to improve the productivity of the existing resources.

Cattle feed is also another factor that SAMADHAN strives to improve on. By providing 24×7 veterinarian services along with fresh and nutritious cattle feed, the program ensures quality livestock and enhanced productivity. Additionally, the project specializes in offering services tailor-made to suit the requirements of different geographical regions. By customizing their services to meet region-specific needs, project SAMADHAN ensures that the benchmark standards are always met.

Appreciating the efforts of Hindustan Zinc’s flagship program, Dr. Netpal Singh, Joint Director, Animal Husbandry Department, Chittorgarh, said, “Hindustan Zinc has reached even the last frontier of the community to spread awareness regarding best practices in livestock development and animal welfare through these cattle health camps. Through this initiative, they have also worked on artificial insemination for breed improvement in livestock.”
