MakeMyTrip Foundation Launches CoviRide To Tackle Transportation Problems

The pandemic has brought out a different side of India we rarely see – the selfless, humanitarian side which strives to help anyone in need. People have stepped up and extended help and support to various communities as well as volunteered their time and services in the service of sick. In recognition of such self-less acts and to support and promote such endeavors, the MakeMyTrip Foundation has launched a community platform called CoviRide.

It is an open, peer-to-peer community platform designed to assist individuals and communities in acquiring and providing transport facilities in such trying times. A major obstacle that plagues millions during the COVID pandemic is the lack of suitable transportation. CoviRide has been launched to tackle this common problem and provide an easily accessible transport service.

CoviRide will be available on both the mobile and desktop and will also enable users to find the nearest vaccination center and a ride to take them there. Additional options include locating drive-through oxygen centers, hospitals and requesting help in procuring medical equipment and supplies like oxygen cylinders, concentrators, etc.

The platform is updated in real-time and will provide the latest information to the user. This will allow organizations and private vendors to connect with the potential clients in a moment’s notice. Another interesting feature of CoviRide is the ‘Offer A Ride’ option which allows any individual or volunteer to offer rides to anyone requiring such assistance.

As of now, the CoviRide service is currently active in New Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, Gurugram, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Agra, with other cities slated to follow soon.

MakeMyTrip Foundation is also in the act of procuring 300 oxygen concentrators to address the shortage of medical equipment. It is also in touch with Residential Welfare Associations across Delhi-NCR and providing oxygen concentrators to help set up COVID-Care facilities in residential neighborhoods.

Certainly, MakeMyTrip Foundation’s act of recognizing the positive attitude of the individuals as well as communities during such dark times is praiseworthy. The steps it has taken to promote good-will and services in communities will surely contribute to India’s efforts to beat the deadly virus.
